Dating back to the 9th century, this ancient sanctuary for the kings is a well-preserved historical masterpiece. Much like the baths of England, Goa Gajah (Elephant Cave) has magnificently preserved its impressive architecture, beautiful sculptures and iconic carvings through the test of time. A 15-minute drive from Central Ubud, your visit to Goa Gajah (Elephant Cave) begins with a 250-m descent down flights of stairs before entering the grand courtyard of the complex. At the centre of the courtyard, the ancient royal bath is still well-preserved. Right across of it, an ancient cave where the royals used to meditate is also still open for the public to visit. So, if you have a flair for history, Goa Gajah (Elephant Cave) should certainly not be missed!
